Welcome to my ePortfolio!
Thank you so much for taking the time to review my professional
ePortfolio. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share
with you my goals as an educator.
My name is Michelle Meyer Ngai and I
am currently the Technology Intervention Coordinator at Montara Avenue
Elementary and Math/Science/Technology Magnet School in South Gate, California. Prior to becoming the technology coordinator, I taught second grade in the Magnet Program for seven years. Having discovered
my love for teaching as a high school English teacher in Japan, the
transition to elementary school was an exciting change and challenge for me.
The learning curve has been tremendous but I can honestly say I love what I do.
Since becoming part of the Magnet staff at my
school, it has been my goal to increase the use of technology in my classroom
to enhance my instructional practice and to increase my students' learning. Each
year I have succeeded in integrating technology in more areas across the
curriculum and I want to ensure that my students and I always take advantage of the technology that is available to us. My motivation and priority is, and always will be, the
academic success of each student who comes to my classroom.
In pursuit of my Master's degree in Educational
Technology at California State University, Long Beach, I continue to strive to
learn new technology that I can put to use for the benefit of my students, in
order to prepare them to succeed in this 21st century world.
When I began the Master's program in educational technology, my immediate professional goal was to increase
my knowledge about the myriad educational uses of technology and subsequently
implement them in my classroom. At that time, my future goal was to become
a technology leader in both my school and my district. Thanks to my principal, I have been given the chance to make that once future goal a reality. In the first few months of my new role as technology coordinator at Montara Elementary, it has been exciting and gratifying to be able to put my technology skills and knowledge to use for the benefit of our entire faculty and student body.
I hope that from this portfolio you will learn
more about who I am as an individual and as an educator. |
